While it seems like there is a new red-dot sight for pistols every day, the need for quality iron sights is still important. It’s a risky move to carry a handgun exclusively with a red dot, and there are few firearms experts that consider it acceptable to not co-witness iron sights through the red dot on a carry gun. Red dot technology has improved dramatically in a short amount of time, but there are many potential failure points on a red dot that aren’t going away anytime soon. It’s important to always have a backup.

We swapped the factory sights on a Walther PDP with the Angry Bear Arms Glock Blank Tall Profile sights. The sights are a serrated style with a .285-inch front and .310-inch rear, and they’re built with premium metal. Installation was easy, working like any other Glock sight installation. With a Fix-It Sticks front sight tool and a Wheeler Armorer's Handgun Sight Tool, the entire process took less than 30 minutes.
The Tall Sights co-witness through the mounted red-dot in the lower one-third section of the lens, which is the ideal height for handguns. They don’t get in the way of the dot when it’s on, but they’re still easy to use when the dot is off. The new sights also had no issue working with the same Safariland holster used with the factory sights.
While the model used with the PDP does not have fiber optic inserts, they still proved highly effective. They’re easy to pick up, and a dab of while nail polish on the front sight helped with quicker target acquisition. Angry Bear Arms makes sights for pretty much every Glock model available (along with Glock-sight compatible handguns) with several different height options ranging from low-profile to extra-tall suppressor-height sights. Each option has a fiber-optic variant as well.
Angry Bear sights for SIG Sauer pistols are their most recent offering. The low-profile, fiber-optic model for the SIG Sauer P365 series is exceptional. If you’ve never used fiber-optic sights, these pop, and at an MSRP of $45, they’re a steal. They also offer low- and tall-profile fiber-optic sights for the SIG P320 series pistol, also at the $45 price point.
