Frontier announced fiber expansion projects in Connecticut and Texas, which will add more than 300,000 locations to its fiber footprint. The vast majority will be added in multiple communities in Connecticut, and the company will add 280,000 locations to these communities.

“This infrastructure investment stems from Frontier’s belief that access to high-speed broadband is essential to building a digital society, enhancing community inclusiveness, and protecting the environment,” said Julie Murtagh, Senior Vice President of Frontier Connecticut Operations, in a press release . "I believe that once the community experiences the power of fiber optic technology, it will look at Frontier in a whole new way."

Frontier provides gigabit fiber services at a price of $75, with a 36-month price guarantee and a one-year contract with the ETF. The company currently waives the $85 start-up fee and offers a $100 Visa reward card or ring video doorbell with performance services.

Frontier recovered from bankruptcy in April and sees fiber broadband expansion as the future. After the bankruptcy, company executives stated that the goal was to create the country's largest "business-only" fiber optic operator. It even marked its new stock symbol as FYBER.

As of the first quarter of 2021, Frontier has 1.3 million fiber optic users, but there are more DSL users. Its DSL footprint caused the operator to have some trouble with FTC.

The company's announced goal in April was to expand Frontier fiber optics to 600,000 additional locations by the end of 2021. As of the first quarter of 2021, the frontier fiber penetration rate is 41.5%, and the goal is to eventually reach 50%. It reported that it added 11,000 fiber optic users in the first quarter of 2021.

Ultimately, Frontier stated that its total fiber expansion opportunities may include more than 13 million locations. The company reports that it has already constructed another 3.4 million locations and has identified 6.7 million as "assessment opportunities."
